Between 1938 & 1939 a badge explosion came to Girl Scouting. Suddenly, badges were colorful and there were so many more of them! Between 1938 and 1963 Intermediate Girl Scouts had a wonderful variety to explore. The fabric that the badges were made of started out with a silver-green fabric, then around 1948 badges were produced on brighter green fabric. These were still being produced on circle of fabric and the excess fabric was meant to be tucked under when sewn on the uniform. Around 1955 badges were finally crafted with an embroidered edge - no more tucking! Around 1961 some badges were produced on the newer, thinner green fabric being used for the uniforms. As always, badge designs and badge names were updated often.
