These wonderful images of the 1926 International Conference were sent in by Tony Smee, along with printed information such as the program for the conference, the songbook, news clippings and a personal letter that share some insight into what controversies and problems were going on in 1926. This international conference was from May 11 thru May 17, 1926 at Camp Edith Macy in New York. Using the program guide to identify what is going on in the images, I have tried to place the images in sequence.

May 12th, march to the Great Hall with the flags of the nations. Even here there was controversy - read the news clipping.

May 13th, Lord Baden-Powell officially arrives at the conference. L-R: Lord Baden-Powell, someone who appears to be President Herbert Hoover (but I can not find any information that he was there - but Mrs. Hoover was on the agenda), Lady Olave Baden-Powell, Juliette Low (in a pointed hat!), an official gentleman and possibly Sarah Louise Arnold, then President of the U.S. Girl Scouts.
